Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Participates in the development of strategic goals and assures implementation of coding quality related to the coding operations business unit.
  • Oversight of the monthly quality process for all clients to assure that quality and productivity metrics are achieved. Identify ways to improve the coding quality assurance program as a differentiator in the vendor market. Develops individual coding improvement activities based on client by client performance. 
  • Maintain service quality by enforcing quality assurance standards, policies and procedures, and government requirements; monitoring compliance for each client.
  • Establish and maintain coding remediation processes for clients and coders.
  • Establish product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures.
  • Manages the career development and performance of the employees directly reporting to this role. 
  • Handles special projects as assigned by the manager of coding operations.
  • Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards.
  • Provides direct supervision to assigned employees through leadership, coaching, training and development, allocating work assignments, review of progress in achieving objectives, managing employee compensation, performance appraisals, diversity, disability, all relevant employee data, etc.
  • Understands and enforces corporate/location policies and procedures. Takes appropriate action to address policy violations.
  • Actively participates in relevant corporate programs/initiatives, complies with professional and quality standards complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards.

Basic Qualifications:

·       Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited university (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution

·       Current AAPC or AHIMA certification

·       Minimum of three (3+) years of working with professional fee medical coding quality programs within a private, public, government or military environment 

·       Minimum of three (3+) years of client management experience

·       Minimum of two (2+) years of combined experience delivering professional fee coding education and/or training

·       Experience with CPT, ICD-10 codes, and E/M leveling

Preferred Qualifications:

·       Master’s degree

·       Previous coding management experience

·       Experience managing a team

·       Experience with MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and technical applications

·       Strong technical understanding and computer skills

·       Experience in auditing, training, and communicating coding regulations

·       Experience navigating through Electronic Health Records and paper charts to identify sufficient documentation of billed services preferred.

·       Meeting facilitation skills internal/client facing

·       CDI education skills

·       Strong understanding of multi-specialty professional fee coding

Travel Requirements: 10% of domestic travel
